Our history
Almost half a century of educational continuity
Founded in 1979 in the 8th district of Lyon, New School is one of the oldest bilingual schools in the city.

New School was founded in 1979 with a clear ambition: offering a demanding bilingual schooling in a structured environment. Almost half a century later, the project still rests on the same foundations: a real 50/50 French-English bilingualism, an explicit educational framework, careful attention to each child and a clear ambition for middle-school readiness.
Over the years, the school has welcomed thousands of children. It has evolved with the curriculum, the spaces and the world, but it has kept its core values: clarity, consistency, rigour and warmth.
Today, New School belongs to the same educational group as EPIN (ranked France's #1 middle school by Le Parisien in 2026). This belonging nourishes our internal rigour: shared educational steering, structured framework, shared culture of results.
