Middle school preparation
Leaving CM2 ready for the move to schools offering bilingual or international pathways
Preparing for middle school does not begin in the June of CM2. It is built gradually: solid fundamentals, working methods, independence, the behaviour of a pupil, confidence when speaking, and the ability to learn in two languages.

Our goal is not only that pupils leave New School with a good level of English. We want them to leave CM2 with strong foundations, a method, clear expression in both French and English, and the maturity to enter a demanding middle school.
This preparation covers academic content but also the posture of a student: listening, getting organised, producing careful work, explaining an idea, cooperating and meeting the expectations of a more structured school environment.
Working with recognised Lyon middle schools helps families understand what the secondary stage expects, particularly for those who plan to continue in a bilingual programme. Each school sets its own admissions criteria and procedures; no place is guaranteed.
