Sustainability & citizenship
Sustainability, citizenship and responsibility
At New School, sustainability and citizenship are not isolated themes. They run through school life.

At New School, sustainability and citizenship are not isolated themes. They run through school life: meals, garden, outdoor classes, trips, cultural projects, waste, respect for materials and responsibilities given to pupils.
Children learn progressively to care for their environment, to understand the consequences of their actions and to take part in collective life.
This approach reflects our educational vision: raising curious, responsible children, able to understand the world and act on their own scale.
Six concrete dimensions
How sustainability shows up every day
Gardening
The school garden lets pupils observe the seasons, get their hands in the soil and understand where food comes from.
Outdoor classes
Going outside, observing, picking up, measuring, drawing: the outdoors becomes a real learning ground.
Canteen and seasonality
Discovering seasonal produce, understanding food origins, taking care to limit waste
Eco-friendly habits
Sorting, saving water, taking care of equipment: simple gestures rooted in everyday life
Class projects
Exhibitions, presentations and tangible outputs around the environment and citizenship
Pupil responsibilities
Class delegates, rotating roles, tidying up the classroom: learning to participate in collective life.
