Nursery
Having fun learning English at the bilingual nursery school
And yes, at New School, as in all nursery schools
- we play,
- we laugh,
- we sing,
- we listen,
- we repeat,
- we dream,
- we laugh,
- we dance,
- we think,
- put your hands in the paint, create...
The programme
The great thing about the New School bilingual nursery school in Lyon is that everything is done in French and English!
The programme is taught in both languages and is based on the children's ability to learn. It alternates throughout the week: one full day with the French teacher and one full day with the English teacher.
Wednesday mornings alternate twice a month.
It's enough to prepare little brains to become perfectly bilingual!
Students will have 27 hours of lessons a week taught by a French-speaking teacher, an English-speaking teacher and a sports teacher.
Throughout the year, learning respect, politeness and good manners will be part of the pupils' lives. The children discover the richness and constraints of the Class group. Little by little, they acquire a taste for collective activities and learn to cooperate.
The monthly themes will often be linked to the time of year, such as the start of the new school year, Halloween, Carnival, etc.
Other themes such as painting, toys and illness will also be used as a basis for work.
These themes will help to extend children's vocabulary and general knowledge through fun activities.
Nursery school activities
Every year, the school and the section leaders organise a competition for the most beautiful drawings. These will be posted on the school blog.
Professional staff will supervise the extra-curricular activities on offer to the pupils. They can take part in games of skill and balance to develop their motor skills and physical and sporting abilities, as well as musical games such as rhythm and percussion, listening to music and learning to play the guitar.
