The simple contract with the State: what it means
New School Lyon is a private bilingual French-English school. All classes follow the French national curriculum. Some classes are concerned by a simple contract (contrat simple) with the French State (Article R.442-52 of the French Code de l'éducation).

Statement from the school
Financial information regarding the classes concerned by the simple contract
Some of New School Lyon's classes are concerned by a simple contract (contrat simple) with the French State. In these classes, certain State-approved teachers may be paid by the State.
In accordance with Article R.442-52 of the French Code de l'éducation, this State funding - which concerns only the classes under contract - entails a reduction of the tuition fees charged to the families of pupils attending those classes. The rate of this reduction is shared with families in the financial documents communicated by the school. The tuition fees charged to families remain the same across all classes of the school.
Except for the resources provided by the State under the simple contract - which covers three classes and only half of their teaching time -, the entire operation of the school and all services it provides are funded by NEW SCHOOL: bilingual French–English organisation, additional supervision, staff not covered by the State, premises, equipment, complementary activities, Cambridge English preparation, after-school care, study time and family services.

What the simple contract covers
All classes follow the French national curriculum
New School's project rests on a clear standard: pupils build the fundamentals expected within the French school system. Reading, writing, mathematics, oral language, reasoning, general knowledge and study method are worked on in every class. New School's specificity is to deliver these learnings in a bilingual setting: the French curriculum is taught in French and in English, on a 50% French / 50% English basis.
What the simple contract changes
In the classes concerned by the simple contract, certain State-approved teachers may be paid by the State. In accordance with Article R.442-52 of the French Code de l'éducation, this State funding entails a reduction of the tuition fees charged to the families of pupils attending these classes. The rate of this reduction is shared with families in the financial documents communicated by the school.
What it means for families
The school keeps its own project (50/50 bilingualism, full-day alternation, Cambridge English, PBIS educational benchmarks, complementary activities); the French curriculum is taught in all classes. The tuition fees charged to families remain the same across all classes of the school.
