December is a special time around the world, marked by the celebration of various traditions and festivities. At New School Lyon, our approach to this magical time is unique: we see it as an opportunity to celebrate not just the festive season, but also the richness of bilingualism and community within our school.
Bilingual festivities
During December, our pupils take part in special bilingual festivities that celebrate Christmas and New Year traditions in both languages. This includes Christmas carols, tales, artistic activities, and of course, preparing Christmas treats. These bilingual activities strengthen their command of both languages while immersing them in the festive atmosphere.
The values of sharing and solidarity
December is also a great time to teach our pupils the values of sharing and solidarity. We encourage pupils to take part in charitable activities, such as collections for associations. This strengthens their sense of responsibility towards the community and raises their awareness of the importance of empathy and mutual support.
In December, New School Lyon turns into a place of celebration, cultural discovery, and bilingual learning. It's a magical time where the joy of festivities mingles with the celebration of our diversity and our community. At the heart of this festive season, New School Lyon continues to highlight the values of education and solidarity that make our school such a special place.
Little Christmas Market
New School Lyon hosted its Little Christmas Market in a festive atmosphere on 12 December. Parents, teachers, and pupils came together to celebrate this joyful tradition while contributing to a worthy cause.
This school market brought the community together around colourful stalls offering a variety of Christmas products. Homemade decorations, pastries, and children's creations were among the treasures on sale.
What made this event particularly special was its charitable goal. The school donated all the funds raised to the Sourire d'Enfant association, dedicated to the wellbeing of sick children. This noble cause greatly motivated the participation and generosity of those present.
This success reflects New School Lyon's commitment to sharing and solidarity. The smiles exchanged, the laughter heard, and the warm atmosphere proved that the Christmas spirit was very much there.
The organising team expressed its gratitude to all those who helped make this market a success. "Our school is moved by everyone's involvement, and happy to support such beautiful causes," said a member of the team.
As the end-of-year festivities continue, the event will leave a lasting memory in the heart of the New School Lyon community, reminding us that the holiday season is also a time to give and support those who need it most.
