Outing to Les Essarts wood

A spring day in the great outdoors!

Spring is a season of renewal and exploration, especially for the curious young students at New School Lyon. We had the pleasure of organising a field trip to the Bois des Essarts, a memorable moment for our pupils from kindergarten to CM2. This outing was a great opportunity for our pupils to immerse themselves in nature and learn in an interactive and sensory way.

Discovering and awakening the senses

The Bois des Essarts, with its vast green expanses and rich biodiversity, was the ideal playground for our young explorers. The children were able to touch the first buds of springsymbolising the rebirth of nature. This tactile activity not only helped them understand the life cycle of plants, but also awakened their sense of touch to the diversity of textures offered by nature.

A natural symphony

One of the highlights of this outing was listening for great tits. Their melodious songs filled the air with natural music, captivating our students who learned to recognise and appreciate these joyful melodies. Hearing these birdsongs was an excellent introduction to environmental awareness and the importance of conserving natural habitats.

Observation and science in the field

Earthworms, which are often overlooked, aroused great interest among our budding young scientists. Observing these creatures in their natural habitat helped the children to understand their crucial role in the ecosystem, particularly in terms of fertilising and aerating the soil.

Outdoor creativity

The highlight of the outing was undoubtedly the activity by drawing with flowers. The children used petals and leaves to create ephemeral works of art, a way of developing their creativity while respecting the environment. This outdoor artistic activity allowed everyone to express their unique vision of the natural world.

Singing in the sun

Finally, there's nothing like singing together in the sunshine to reinforce the spirit of camaraderie and joy among the pupils. The songs chosen were upbeat and lively, and brought the day to a fitting end, leaving lasting memories in the hearts of our children.

The outing to the Bois des Essarts was a complete success, with lively, interactive lessons. It allowed the children of New School Lyon to connect with nature while learning new skills. in a fun and meaningful way. We're convinced that these practical experiences are essential to children's overall development, and we're already looking forward to the next adventures spring has in store for us!
